Homemade Strawberry Jam Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 500g fresh strawberries, washed and hulled

  • 200g sugar (adjust to taste)

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tsp unflavoured halal gelatin

  • 2 tbsp cold water

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Gelatin:
    In a small bowl, sprinkle 1 tsp halal unflavoured gelatin over 2 tbsp cold water. Let it bloom for 5–10 minutes.

  2. Cook the Strawberries:
    Chop strawberries roughly and add to a medium saucepan. Add sugar and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat until the strawberries soften and release their juices (about 10–15 minutes).

  3. Blend (Optional):
    For a smooth jam, use a hand blender or food processor to puree the mixture to your desired consistency.

  4. Add Gelatin:
    Gently heat the bloomed gelatin to dissolve it completely, then stir it into the warm strawberry mixture. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until well combined.

  5. Cool & Store:
    Pour the jam into sterilized jars and allow it to cool to room temperature. Seal and refrigerate. Jam will thicken as it cools.

Tips:

  • Adjust sugar depending on the sweetness of the strawberries.

  • Use halal unflavoured gelatin to keep the jam smooth and jellied.

  • This jam stays fresh in the fridge for up to 2–3 weeks.
