Ingredients:
-
500g fresh strawberries, washed and hulled
-
200g sugar (adjust to taste)
-
1 tbsp lemon juice
-
1 tsp unflavoured halal gelatin
-
2 tbsp cold water
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Gelatin:
In a small bowl, sprinkle 1 tsp halal unflavoured gelatin over 2 tbsp cold water. Let it bloom for 5–10 minutes. -
Cook the Strawberries:
Chop strawberries roughly and add to a medium saucepan. Add sugar and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat until the strawberries soften and release their juices (about 10–15 minutes). -
Blend (Optional):
For a smooth jam, use a hand blender or food processor to puree the mixture to your desired consistency. -
Add Gelatin:
Gently heat the bloomed gelatin to dissolve it completely, then stir it into the warm strawberry mixture. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until well combined. -
Cool & Store:
Pour the jam into sterilized jars and allow it to cool to room temperature. Seal and refrigerate. Jam will thicken as it cools.
Tips:
-
Adjust sugar depending on the sweetness of the strawberries.
-
Use halal unflavoured gelatin to keep the jam smooth and jellied.
-
This jam stays fresh in the fridge for up to 2–3 weeks.
