Homemade Strawberry Marmalade Recipe with Halal Gelatin

Aug 22, 2025

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries (washed, hulled, and chopped)

  • 3 large navel oranges (zested, peeled, and chopped)

  • 1 large lemon (zested, peeled, and chopped)

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 package (57g) pectin crystals

  • 1 tablespoon gelatin (optional, for firmer set)

  • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda

  • 3 cups granulated sugar

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Fruit: Wash, hull, and chop the strawberries. Zest, peel, and chop the oranges and lemon.

  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large saucepan, combine the strawberries, citrus fruits, and water. Stir in the pectin crystals, gelatin, and baking soda.

  3. Cook the Mixture: Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring constantly. Once boiling, add the sugar all at once and stir until dissolved.

  4. Boil and Test: Return the mixture to a boil and cook for 10–15 minutes, or until it reaches the desired consistency. Test by placing a spoonful on a cold plate; if it wrinkles, it’s ready.

  5. Jar the Marmalade: Carefully pour the hot marmalade into sterilized jars, leaving about 1/4 inch of space at the top. Seal with lids and let cool to room temperature.

  6. Store: Once cooled, store the marmalade in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
